I highly recommend Douae as a Darija teacher. I came to her with an intermediate level because I wanted to improve, but also with plenty of fossilised errors! She patiently helped me to expand my vocabulary, correct my routine mistakes and grow in confidence. Good for beginners and those looking to break through to the next level.

Before a friend introduced me to Douae, I had spent years looking for the right darija teacher without any luck. I’m someone who has already been living in Morocco for over ten years and can comfortably communicate in darija but wanted to learn to speak ‘properly’ and deepen my vocabulary. Other teachers I took classes with with were unable to meet the challenge of teaching someone a language that they’re already used to speaking and I felt treated like a little kid trying to learn A,B,C’s. Douae and I speak exclusively in darija – she doesn’t revert to using English during our classes even though she can (and even though I bet it may be easier for her to explain certain concepts in English) and she is so keen at perceiving the areas of conversation in which I make repeated mistakes. Our classes are fun, we get to discuss topics that are engaging and interesting, and with each lesson my conversational grammar and vocabulary increases in ways that are genuinely useful to me. I get to use what I learn with Douae as soon as I leave the classroom and my Moroccan friends already comment on the huge improvement in my speech.
